1,001 Skies + Workshop

August 6, 2025 marked my 1,001st consecutive sky and the end of a wonderful project. What's next?

1,001 Skies + Workshop
My last sky for a while (August 6, 2025)

One month ago today, I painted my 1,001st consecutive sky, marking the end of a wonderful project that started on a lark and lasted over two-and-a-half years. I learned a lot about both the sky and myself, and the importance of seasons and sunsets. It's bittersweet, but I felt it was time—at least for a while—to stop.

Since then, I have painted a couple of skies when inspired to do so, and I'll continue to paint skies on occasion. Frankly, I don't think I'll ever see the sky without picturing in my mind how I'd paint it, but just as all days must come to an end, so too, I felt, should this project.

What's next? I'm not quite sure yet and have been wondering about this through writing and sketching. Stopping doing something after 1,001 straight days was a bit jarring at first, but I have since filled the time I previously spent painting morning skies with longer morning walks.

I am interested in teaching a multi-session skies painting course online in the near future but first need to determine the best way to do so (i.e., class size, format, etc.). If you are interested in joining this cohort, please reply and I'll add you to my first round of invites before I open the course up more widely.

And in the spirit of maintaining a complete archive of all 1,001 skies, here are my skies from 2025. All skies from 2023 and 2024 have also been published here on LifeNoticed.com:

Thanks for joining me on this journey and here’s to many more beautiful skies ahead, even if they’re not all met with paint.
